It wasn’t too long after I had started studying languages that I found it impossible to set aside my dictionary.
My first book of this kind was a beginner, which gradually changed to an Oxford Advanced. Five years later, it outlived its usefulness as most of its pages were ripped off or torn up. As a result, the old book was replaced by a Longman.
Not only does it include the meanings of many words, but it also features word groups, collocations, grammar tips and so on. The book is enclosed with two CDs , which are fascinating and entertaining as well as informative. Extra examples and writing assistance are available to help learners write and learn better and easier. And, it pronounces all the words and sentences, helping you to improve your listening. Also, you can assess how good your knowledge is by doing the exam practices. So, if the teacher is not available, everyone can rely on the book and its enclosed CDs.
My learning interrupts if the book is not within my sight, that’s why it is impossible to separate from it. I should be grateful to a teacher of mine who used to preach over the advantages of a good dictionary all the time.
